Counterflow Brewing finds new home

From , by Alexis Esseltine

Penticton, B.C.- Counterflow Brewing announces today that it has found a new home: Tin
Whistle Brewing. Tin Whistle Brewing, the South Okanagan’s original microbrewery, is
thrilled to welcome the much-loved Counterflow Brewing into the family. Counterflow is
known for its against-the-grain beers and art-forward label art that was started in a
garage by a group of home brewers who grew and saw commercial success distributing
their beer B.C.-wide until brewing was ceased.

Alexis Esseltine and Timothy Scoon who took over Tin Whistle Brewing in its 25th year
know the importance of keeping the beloved beer brands of the Okanagan alive. “When
we purchased Tin Whistle Brewing in the fall of 2020 we committed to respecting the
history of the brewery while driving it forward in innovation of the beer and art”, said Tim.
“Counterflow’s origination story of passionate beer lovers being driven to develop creative
beers with differentiated art by Liz Ranney definitely made it a natural fit for the Tin
Whistle family” continues Tim.

Tin Whistle Brewing was the 12th Brewery to open in B.C. when it launched in 1995.
While Counterflow doesn’t have the same length of brewing, it does have a loyal following
and is a brand that has contributed to Penticton’s status as the “Craft Beer Capital of
Canada” (Lonely Planet).

Tin Whistle Brewing has brewed, and today releases, Counterflow’s Paradigm Shift Pink
Guava Berliner Weisse. Paradigm Shift was Counterflow’s first beer, and the one that put
it on the map. The beer will be available on draught and in cans in the Tin Whistle’s
historic Penticton taproom, and exclusively on draught this weekend in Kelowna at Pretty
Not Bad- Unconventional Sports Hub and Penticton at Brit Bar and Pizzeria Tratto
Napoletana. More locations will be added in the coming weeks.
