The BC Ale Trail Launches New Ale Trail North of the Fraser

New ale trail features self-guided itinerary encourages beer lovers to visit 11 breweries from New Westminster, Burnaby, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam

Vancouver BC – The BC Ale Trail has launched a new lower mainland Ale Trail featuring 11 breweries showcased in a curated itinerary to help beer lovers explore four communities north of the Fraser River.

Dubbed North of the Fraser Ale Trail, the four communities of New Westminster, Burnaby, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam are aligned in many ways — not just by geography, but also by their bustling craft breweries.

“We’re really excited to bring these communities together on the BC Ale Trail,” said Monica Frost, BC Ale Trail Project Lead. “Creating the North of the Fraser Ale Trail was a natural next step and brings nine established breweries onboard in a new way. We hope beer lovers spend a day or a weekend exploring the breweries, restaurants and other activities these vibrant cities have to offer.”

The BC Ale Trail is part of Destination BC’s Co-Op Marketing Program and the North of the Fraser Ale Trail brings together Tourism New Westminster, Tourism Burnaby, Tourism Coquitlam and City of Port Coquitlam to feature some of the province’s best known breweries, including the Belgian-themed Dageraad Brewing in Burnaby; New Westminster’s Steel & Oak Brewing; and Steamworks Brewery, an expanded production facility in Burnaby that grew out of the Steamworks Brewpub in downtown Vancouver.

Though the beer scene in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam is of a much more recent vintage — all six of the breweries in those cities have opened in the past four years, most recently Boardwalk Brewing in July. In fact, Coquitlam’s only brewery (so far) is Mariner Brewing, which was named after NASA’s Mariner Space Program, as well as the nearby street of the same name.

Those traveling the North of the Fraser Ale Trail will be able to visit these 11 breweries in a curated itinerary:
