Rejoice! Dry January is nearly over. Here’s a few fantastic local events to help you wet your whistle and get back in the swing of things.

This Friday, head to Ace Brewing in Courtenay, when they will be releasing RNB’s Love Potion on draught for pints and growler fills. This hazy NEVI (North East Vancouver Island) IPA was double dry hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Mandarina Bavaria hops. They will also be tapping a special cask that was further imbued with Sabro hops. All proceeds from the sale of the beer will be split between YANA Comox Valley and BC Children’s Hospital Oncology. On Saturday, Detonate Brewing in Summerland is celebrating their 3rd anniversary with fun birthday games for adults and great beers.

West Craft’s Sunday Service pop-up takes place at Prototype Coffee in Vancouver on Sunday. This week, they will be launching the official Hopwired Festival beer—a stout with lactose, coffee, and chocolate brewing by Nicklebrook in collaboration with Prototype. They will also be pouring Hill Farmstead, Garden Path, Dwinell Country, Wildflower, Chuckanut,  and Three Magnets. Beer sale proceeds and tips go to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

Next Thursday, Malone’s in Vancouver is hosting a Powell Brewery tap takeover, when they will dedicate their line-up to a number of great brews from one of East Van’s best.

On the same night, Darby’s in Kitsilano is hosting a tap takeover by Squamish’s Backcountry Brewing. They’ll have a couple of their core beers on and several of their latest seasonals.

Next Saturday, the Sunshine Coast Craft Beer Festival returns to Gibsons. This year, they will be hosting 19 breweries and cideries from across the province, accompanied by local food vendors, and a DJ set. The evening session is now sold out, but there are a few afternoon tickets still available.
