R&B releases Ursos Arctos

East Van, BC – This full bodied ale, with rich malty flavour and aroma, has a full sweet malt character. There is a bitterness that balances that comes from the roasted malts and the addition of North West Cascade and Chinook hops. The hops are used to offset the sweetness of the malt.

Allan Cukier head brewer talks about how the Ursos Arctos brew was created:

“Our first brew of this full flavored Russian Imperial Stout was released last year. It was a real hit, so we brought it back again this season as a returning favourite. It has complexity with a dark malt character that is well balanced. The beer was produced using a double mash technique and the flavours are enhanced by a 12 hour boil time and two months of conditioning time. We love how this beer tastes right now, but it is also one that will improve with age and cellar well for a year or three.”

BEER STATS:  ABV: 10.4% IBU: 85 SRM: 55

FOOD PAIRINGS: aged cheeses, dark chocolate and other chocolate desserts.

TASTING NOTES: Full bodied, rich malt flavours and aromas of toasted marshmallow, dark chocolate , coffee and molasses. Best served in a brandy/snifter glass.
