Vancouver Craft Beer Week is back for its ninth annual celebration of craft beer starting May 25, and we’re recalling our East Van roots for this year’s opening night party. Kicking the week off at the Maritime Labour Centre located in the heart of one of Vancouver’s biggest brewery districts, cans from more than twenty breweries will be cracked and crushed to the spectacle of one of our most revered events: Feats of Strength! The infamous Grant Lawrence is opening the 10-day celebration with the cracking of the first can!

Vancouver’s brewers have long been known for their ridiculous strength, and for their strength in the ridiculous. Watch brewers, cellarmen/women, barkeeps and plain-ol strong-folk compete in events like push-up competitions, The Growler tearing, keg stacking and so much more in this presentation of Copper & Theory’s Feats of Strength. Add Comedian Jonny Paul to the mix as emcee and well, you know where this is going!

Join us for an unorthodox opening night celebration featuring an incredible array of canned beer including the official VCBW 2018 Collaboration Beer, live music from Alex Maher and Hebegebe, and the glory of Feats of Strength.

Vancouver Craft Beer Week started in 2010 at a small venue in Vancouver hosting about 100 Vancouver beer aficionados and 15 British Columbia and Vancouver breweries. Over the past 9 years, this modest Vancouver craft beer festival has evolved from Canada’s first-ever craft beer week into a cultural engine that showcases music, food, art, and beer at events across the city, from the last weekend of May to the first weekend of June every year. VCBW 2018 kicks off on May 25, continuing throughout the week and culminating at the historic PNE fairgrounds on June 2 and 3 for Vancouver Craft Beer Week Festival 2018 where over 100 craft breweries and cideries will be pouring more than 300 beers and ciders. At the PNE, beer, both imported and BC craft, will be presented by North American breweries and (often) poured by the brewers themselves.
