Join WAVAW on March 7th for a day of celebration and reflection as we remember how long feminists have been fighting for equality. We are committed to standing up and making space for trans, Two-Spirit and nonbinary folk to ensure that their voices are heard and their contributions are recognized.
2017 was a year of many conversations about sexual assault, sexual harassment, and the impacts it has on our community thanks to #MeToo. Many of us are wondering “what next?”
This year, on March 7th, we invite you to stand in solidarity with survivors, and turn #MeToo into #IWill.
Details:
– Entrance by donation (no one will be turned away due to lack of funds)
– $5.00 special beer, crafted with WAVAW in mind
– Silent auction and raffle items
– Live music performed by WAVAW volunteer Tissa Rahim
All proceeds from silent auction, raffle, entrance, and beer sales will support survivors of sexualized violence.
Accessibility:
The space is fully wheelchair accessible and has one gender neutral accessible washroom.
This event is taking place on the ancestral and unceded Coast Salish territories of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish people. It is important for us to acknowledge that this land is unceded as an anti-violence organization because the process of colonization and the very way in which we are coming together to be on this land was stolen through violence.
