Cariboo District’s only craft brewery, Barkerville Brewing Co., is located in Quesnel, BC. Beer has long held an esteemed place in this region, and their beers tell the story of the historic Cariboo gold rush. The original Barkerville Brewery was built in the 1860 but burned to the ground in 1868 along with the entire town of Barkerville. Fast forward to over a century later for the Barkerville Brewery to once again stake its claim, opening in the picturesque town of Quesnel. Their craft brews include customer favourites like 18 Karat Ale, Wandering Camel IPA and Prospector’s Pilsner among other seasonal ales. Barkerville has gone on to win 6 BC awards in the past two years, as well as to CBA awards in 2014 & 2015.
