A social evening for social good. Help us put 100 kids from a Mumbai slum community in school this year.

The Dirty Wall Project Photo Fundraiser features a photo exhibit and prints by Cindy Ryan and Kane Ryan, as well as cookbooks and folk art from India.

Enjoy drinks and Indian snacks (chaat), tunes by Victoria’s DJ Record C and a dance performance by Bollywood Beats.
The event takes place in the historic Rithet building at the Wharf Street gallery, generously donated by Latitude Geographics.

The Dirty Wall Project was started in 2009 by Kane Ryan, a Victoria-raised traveller and photographer who volunteered and helped in the Saki Naka Pipeline slum community under the motto, “See a need and fill it.” He raised his first batch of funds selling photographs from India — one of his most-popular being a picture of an artfully dirty wall.

Over the past nine years, Dirty Wall has helped hundreds of families in the community with school fees, medical bills, nutrition and health needs, as well as operating a study for children.

Cindy and Todd Ryan, Kane’s parents, spend six months each year in the community and are headed back late-October to sign kids up for school. An education can provide a different future, hope and safety for a child in India — and uplift an entire family.
