CAMRA U – Certified Beer Aficionado

Certificate Description: This program is modeled to reflect the knowledge you’re expected to learn to pass the Certified Cicerone® exam. Participants will cover everything in the brewing process from barley to bottles, and cover other aspects such as sampling and understanding off-flavours in beer, understanding and differentiating between similar beer styles, and the art of food pairing.

This class is sold as a package of 5 different classes. The class outlines and individual cost are listed below. Our space is limited to 20 tickets total so act fast before they’re gone!

Date: Oct. 2, 2017

Over the course of the class, we will examine the raw materials used in the production of beer, explore the brewing process in depth, and discuss the elements of packaging beer. In addition, we will be participating in an all-grain brew on Faculty’s pilot system, which, once ready, will go on to be served in Faculty’s tasting room!

Your purchase will include the following:

– Two free pints from Faculty Brewing Co.
– Pizza dinner
– A token for a free pint of the beer created on the pilot system

You will have the option of purchasing more beer from Faculty during the course of the presentation.

Over the course of the class, we will be discussing various on-flavours in beer: what they are, what causes them, and ways that breweries control them. Most importantly, we will be tasting them as we do so! This is your chance to hone your nose and palate and learn more about why beer tastes so great!

Over the course of the class, we will be discussing various off-flavours in beer, what causes them, and how to prevent them while brewing. Most importantly, we will be tasting them as we do so! This is your chance to experience the off-flavours and learn from them!

Over the course of the class, we will discuss the key differences between certain beer styles while tasting them; and at the end, run a mock portion of the exam you would see on the Cicerone tasting examination so that you can test and hone your beer sleuthing skills!

Food Pairing 101
Date: Oct. 30, 2017

Over the course of this class, we will discuss the possible outcomes of successful beer and food pairings, beer and food vocabulary, and pairing concepts. All while sampling delicious examples of some classic, and some experimental, beer and food pairings!

CAMRA Members – if there are only non-member tickets available, please purchase that and let us know, we can refund the price difference.

**There are no refunds on ticket purchases, however your ticket is transferable and you are welcome to give your ticket to another person in the event you are unable to make the class**
