Some of Canada’s best breweries reside in that darned, smug Ontario. If only grudgingly, one must admit that one might want to stop in and check some of them out, if one happened to find oneself in or around Universe Central. The Beer Seekers faced just that type of temptation this past summer and caved in readily.
With an expected crowd of 4000, the third annual Fort Langley Beer & Food Festival will be the biggest one yet…and it’s where a number of anticipated Langley breweries will become debutantes at their first public beer fest.
Rock star is a term that has occasionally been used to describe certain iconic BC brewers. Trading Post’s brewmaster Tony Dewald most definitely suits that label, but unlike others, he is doubly qualified: as a star musician in his youth, and as a star brewer today.
To BC’s current generation of craft beer enthusiasts, owner and brewer Iain Hill might be recognized as one of the brains behind Strange Fellows Brewing Company. His influence on BC’s beer scene, however, runs more broadly and deeply than even longtime fans might know.
Not all events knock it out of the park in their first try, but this one did. It’s back on May 19th.
