Tessa Gabneiewicz is Head Brewer & Brewing Operations at Land & Sea Brewing in Comox BC. In this Women Of Beer feature interview, Tessa tells our Lundy Dale about opening a brewery, being invited to brew in England and her overall noteable career to date.
Three years ago, I traveled up the Sunshine Coast to Powell River across to Courtenay in the Comox Valley, and then south to Victoria, stopping at every brewery along my route. Since then, several new breweries have opened in the mid- and North Island, so it was time for a re-visit.
When we think of paradise, we think of faraway destinations with exotic food, drink and landscapes. For a beer lover, this could be in the bars of Prague, the monastery breweries of Belgium, or the urban breweries along the banks of the Willamette River in Portland. Or, closer to home, the scenic spas and unique breweries of Vancouver Island.
In celebration of our BC Craft Beer Community, we invited some of the many public-minded BC brewing industry folks we have the pleasure to know, to tell us more about their relationship with their local community, and within the brewing community. Their responses were voluminous and passionate. We’ve excerpted them here. We welcome yours too.
