Oktoberfest season kicks off

Summer officially ends with Nanaimo’s #1 rhythm & brews fest

Vancouver has its big brewery parking lot music festival: the Truck Stop Concert Series, at Red Truck Brewing from June through August. Victoria has the Phillips Backyard Weekender every July. Making it a trifecta is the one with the best name: Nanaimo’s Longwoodstock, naturally based out of Longwood Brewery’s own back lot at the end of summer every September. Looks like attendees this Saturday will witness a massive display of talent. Preview below. View event | Tickets

It’s Oktoberfest Season. Do Your Wurst

It’s the autumnal equinox equivalent of St. Patrick’s Day in the spring. You feel kinda silly if you go all in and get Germanic for a day. But Oktoberfest only comes once a year, so it’s OK to go out and get lederhosen.

You’re only doing it wrong if you choose a Teutonic tipple with lousy lagers. With all the craft-centric options out there at BC’s breweries, you can have a stein-tingling good time and still be bier smart. So get out there and do your wurst. Here’s our list of BC craft-oberfest events:
