End of an Era for Great Canadian Beer Pioneers

On Monday, the Great Canadian Beer Festival Society announced the passing of the torch from its current Directors (including the two co-founders pictured above) to the Victoria Beer Week Society. After a quarter century, this day had to come, and it means the forseeable future of Canada’s longest-running beer festival is assured. But it’s no doubt a time of mixed feelings and memories for some for whom GCBF has become an annual part of life. If you’d like to revisit some of those memories or learn more about the beer community leaders that made Beerfest what it has been, try these links:

A Century of Remembrance

Check Ed’s column below and our Top Picks calendar for goings on this weekend. Then, if you fancy a patriotic pint after marking the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day, head to a Royal Canadian Legion. If you’re in Vancouver, the Billy Bishop Pub in Legion Branch 176 is the place to go; they host a Remembrance Day event every year. It takes five minutes and the questions are interesting. Have a look at the survey here while it’s still available this month. View Survey →
