Mighty Peace Brewing Co.

Our Story

A LEGEND IS BORN

When you discover a beer that is unlike anything you’ve ever had before — in a good way — it has lasting effects on you for the rest of your life. When our Co-Founder, Scott Spence, was introduced to craft beer by some family in Victoria, he knew Fort St. John and Northeast British Columbia, needed their own! Scott and our other Co-Founder, Dino Soucy, had been thinking about how they could bring something new and exciting to Fort St. John, and after Scott had shared his experience with Dino, he was in without hesitation. Then came the long journey of starting a new brewery!

Our Mighty Founders

Scott & Destiny and Dino & Michelle…with the imagination and forethought of the ladies, combined with the ability of the guys to lift heavy things, the small group managed to remove themselves from their regular lives of balancing multiple other business ventures, families, friends and create the most Northern Craft Brewery in BC.

Years adding up to the start of MPBC, an eye was always open for the next big idea in Fort St John, the idea was usually Oil and Gas based. To say everyone was out of their comfort zone entering into the food and beverage industry is fair, however failure not being a concern, sometimes to our surprise, permits were signed, applications were approved; “wow we’re really doing this” was a common term around the soon to be brewery.

Our Beers

A BEER TO CALL YOUR OWN

Transitional…our beer needs to be transitional. Living in the North, particularly the Peace Region, we are a small drop in the center of oil and gas, logging, as well as a huge agricultural farming industries. The common thread for our brew was it had to be a fresh, easy drinking beer that wouldn’t scare people away, but welcome them and provide a local beer they could be proud of. MPBC will focus on creating the highest quality dynamic beers, both in approachable classic styles and envelope-pushing creations. While we will initially focus on perfecting a few classic styles (Peace Gold and The Mighty Pilsner) as potential flagship beers, we will regularly keep at least one beer on tap at the brewery dedicated for something more adventurous.

He Master The Brew

Often referred to as a Renaissance man, one of Adam Keele’s greatest passions is that as a brewer. Part of his 16+ years in the US Military, while stationed in Germany, Adam fell in love with beer—not just as a wonderful fermented beverage, but also the craftsmanship and science that went into its creation. Homebrewing would later follow, and as Adam says, it was all down hill from there. In 2011, he got his first job in the brewing industry on the bottling line at Montana’s oldest brewery, Bayern Brewing. Since then, Adam worked his way through the industry doing just about every job in a brewery, including brewing a gold medal winning flagship beer at the Great American Beer Festival in 2016. Most recently he was packaging manager at Alaska’s third largest brewery, Midnight Sun Brewing Co. When Adam connected with the group of extremely green brewing entrepreneurs’ both parties new the potential was unmeasurable.

A Place To Call Home

Things seem to happen for a reason, after building after building fell through due to size or financial reasoning, we thought to had settled on our new home. The once 4000sqft oilfield service shop was transformed into a beautiful Brewery with Tasting Lounge. Our 15 BBL 4 vessel Brewhouse from Specific Mechanical was crafted to fit nicely between our state of the art Alpha canning line and our 400sqft walk in cooler. Many thanks to our local contractors who went above and beyond to achieve the superior quality and finish we were looking for.
