Japanese bondage wasn’t enough – now we’re flying over two tattooists
On November 21st and 22nd, Art x Craft “Wabori” explores craft brewing, distilling, and Irezumi, the Japanese art of tattooing. Japanese tattooists Horinao and Horishun, from Tokyo, Japan, will join East Vancouver’s Storm Brewing and Odd Society Spirits for two unique events.
On Thursday, November 21st, Horinao, who apprenticed with the Horikazu tattoo family of Sendagi, will share insights behind his large format pieces that capture vivid and tangible human experiences. Storm Brewing Company’s, Brewmaster and Owner, James Walton and Brewer Mike Crozier, will accompany Horinao, leading attendees through a guided beer mixing and tasting, featuring the innovative and unpretentious brews that made Storm a Vancouver legend.
On Friday, November 22nd, Horishun shares the spotlight with Odd Society Spirits, bringing old-world traditions together with West Coast flavour. In his first trip to Canada, Horishun, a member of the famous Horitoshi family, will share the family technique he uses to create brilliant and dramatic tattoos. He will accompany Joel McNichol, a Distiller at Odd Society Spirits, who will warm your soul with one-of-a-kind craft distillations.
Tickets are limited to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get up close and personal with both artisans each night.

“Art x Craft was the most unique and enjoyable experience that I’ve had in Vancouver. Not only do you get to taste and learn about the roots of a local craft beer, but you also get introduced to art forms that you probably won’t have been exposed to otherwise.” – Chris S
