The Barley Merchant reaches major milestone

Langley, BC – The Barley Merchant Taproom & Kitchen is proud to announce a major
milestone in their quest to shine a light on the many independently owned and operated craft
breweries around British Columbia – the tapping of their 1000th unique beer. This achievement
speaks volumes to their commitment of exclusively serving BC products from behind their bar
and it’s not just craft beer, as they also offer local cider, wine and spirits as well, all in an effort to
showcase the incredible range of talent, quality and creativity within the BC craft industry. Along
the way, they served up beer from far away places like Prince Rupert, Port Alberni, Prince
George and Smithers.

The Barley Merchant is a locally owned and operated establishment located in Langley just
north of the 200th Street exit at highway one, near The Colossus Movie Theatre. Since opening
in July of 2021 after a prolonged delay due the pandemic, they have become a popular
gathering place for those who embrace drinking local. The beer savvy team at The Barley
Merchant is about more than just the beer too as they love sharing the stories of the people
behind the brands and creating a unique and personalized experience for each guest. All with
an emphasis on promoting and celebrating the unique flavors and experiences available in the
region.

“We are truly thrilled to have had the opportunity to pour so many fun and unique beers from all
over BC in the first year and eight months since we’ve opened. Curating our tap list of 34
rotating beer taps is a lot of fun and we’re just getting started!” said owner and operator at The
Barley Merchant, Tim LaHay. “Even at 120 breweries poured, I just learned that the total number
of BC breweries is closing in on 250 so we’ve got a long way to go if we want to serve them all
here”

On Tuesday, April 4th at 5:00pm, unique beer 1000 will be tapped and they have sourced
something very rare and worthy of the special occasion. Recursive Space is a 14.26% Bourbon
Barrel Aged Munich Barleywine with heavily caramelized honey and madagascar vanilla beans
from highly regarded Temporal Artisan Ales. A nomadic brewery headed up by Tristan Stewart,
known for his innovative and flavourful creations.

“We are so grateful for the local craft beverage community for their ongoing support and for
sharing their latest and greatest creations with us so that this achievement could be possible,”
said bar lead Josh McLaughlin. “We look forward to continuing to celebrate and showcase the
incredible talent and creativity of local producers and I’m excited to start working on the next
1000 unique beers”
