Penticton, BC. If you’re looking for a place to take your kids and family for Santa photos, head over to Penticton’s Cannery Brewing where they have a Santa and Mrs. Claus photo station set up in their brewhouse. Kids and families can sit with life-sized replicas of Santa and Mrs. Claus, make their wishes to Santa, and bring their own cameras to take photos or selfies.
Ian Dyck, co-owner of Cannery Brewing explained, “While so many things are so different this year, one thing that remains the same is that kids want to visit with Santa. We put on our collective thinking caps to figure out how to make this happen and to be able to have Santa photos in a safe and special way.”
Dyck continued, “Before the latest round of COVID restrictions, we arranged for Santa and Mrs. Claus to come to the brewery and meet with local photographer Chris Stenberg who donated his expertise and captured a fabulous photo of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Then Sherwood Signs made a life-sized replica of the photo on a material that we can clean and sanitize between family visits.”
The life-sized replicas of Santa and Mrs. Claus are set up at Cannery Brewing at 198 Ellis Street in Penticton. There is no charge for Santa visits and photos, although cash donations are being collected for the South Okanagan Children’s Charity.
“We are grateful that the team at Cannery Brewing has come up with a safe, unique way for families to get their photos with Santa this Christmas. It’s creative and much appreciated. You can always count on the team at Cannery Brewing to think outside the box and come up with solutions, especially during these uncertain times,” commented Jasmine Aantjes, director of the South Okanagan Children’s Charity.
The South Okanagan Children’s Charity has assisted families of children with health problems for over 45 years. They provide assistance to families with children who have medical needs and extra medical expenses. One hundred percent of the money collected is used to help local children and their families.
The Santa and Mrs. Claus photo station is available during opening hours at Cannery Brewing until Christmas Eve. They are open Monday through Friday from 12pm-9pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11am-9pm. They will close on Christmas Eve at 5pm. Guests are asked to visit Santa within their own household bubble. Masks are required to enter the taproom and to walk around the building.
While at Cannery Brewing, satisfy your sweet tooth with a holiday treat while also supporting a good cause. Dyck explained, “Our amazing culinary team created a holiday dessert special, Candy Cane Pavé (layered cake), and $2 from each one ordered in our taproom will also go to support the South Okanagan Children’s Charity.”
Also, take a look inside and out, as Cannery Brewing is all decorated for the season, as part of the #HolidaySpiritMap. The spirit of Santa lives on.
