FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, September 21, 2022, At the end of August each summer, many BC brewers leave their brew kettles and fermentation tanks behind to go on a field trip. They travel to hop farms all around the province to collect fresh hops that are still wet and juicy from the harvest. Then they race back to their breweries to brew a batch of beer with those hops. These special fresh hop (or wet hop) beers come out a few weeks later and are available for a short time at the beginning of autumn.
The Victoria Beer Society is proud to announce the return of Fresh to Death: Victoria’s Harvest Celebration of Fresh Hop Fermentations on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022 from 3 to 6pm. The event will feature close to 20 beers from BC craft breweries, including fresh hop beers and other special seasonal beers, all celebrating the harvest season. It will take place at the gorgeous Esquimalt Gorge Park Pavilion that opened earlier this year — a definite improvement over past years when the event was held outdoors or in drafty, unheated venues!
For beer-and-food lovers, we have created a VIP ticket that includes early access to the event with a delicious tasting of four beers paired perfectly with four canapes from the Rock Bay’s Bird & Basket. This unique guided tasting led by Joe Wiebe, Beer Director for the Victoria Beer Society, will begin one hour before the main event at 2pm.
Beer List to be announced soon.
