There’s a lot going over the next week, all throughout the province. We’ve got a beer week, tap takeovers, beer dinners, and a couple of festivals. It’s going to be busy!
Tonight, Nanaimo Beer Week continues with Bruges Bros, at Lucky’s Liquor, followed by Casks in Hand at White Sails on Friday, and It’s Getting Hop in Here at Craft Fare on Saturday. Events conclude with Night of the Living Dregs at Longwood Brew Pub on Sunday.
This weekend, the Drake in Victoria is holding a dark beer showcase. They will be dedicating their taps to malt-forward beers, including dark lagers, brown ales, porters, stouts, and Belgian dark ales. Expect to see a few special treats from their cellar.
On Saturday, Sooke Craft Beer & Spirits Festival returns for a second year. The event features local craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries, as well as live music, and food for purchase. The evening session has sold out, but the afternoon session still has tickets available.
Next Tuesday, CRAFT Beer Market in Vancouver is hosting a Backcountry Brewmaster’s Dinner, while their Kelowna location is holding a Copper Brewing Brewmaster’s dinner. Both events feature five custom-created courses, paired with five beers from the respective breweries.
Next Wednesday, The Red Accordion in Vancouver is hosting a Dieu Du Ciel dinner with special guest Jean-Francois Gravel, co-owner and brewmaster. They will be serving a four-course menu designed to pair up with Rosée D’hibiscus, Mega Moziaka NEIPA, Fun Fou Sour IPA, and Aphro Vanilla Cocoa Stout. There will also be a special keg of Péché Mortel available afterwards.
Next Thursday, Smiths pub in Victoria is hosting a Container Brewing tap takeover, and will be dedicating their lines to a selection of great beers from this new East Vancouver brewery.
Next Saturday brings the final Hopwired Festival to the Croatian Cultural Center in Vancouver. Featuring local, national, and international craft beer and third-wave coffee, Hopwired encourages partnership between craft beer and coffee roasters. Patrons at the event will be able to taste the beer, and also the coffee that’s been used in that beer alongside their partner brewery.
