This week is the calm before the storm, as the Great Canadian Beer Festival (GCBF) is set to return next weekend. This is the first year under their new ownership, so if you’ve not been for a while, this is the time to return to the fold!
Tonight, Darby’s in Kitsilano is hosting a launch party for Four Winds Brewing’s new Apricot Jam IPA. They’ll be pouring said beer along with three other special new beers.
On Saturday, Moon Under Water in Victoria is having a big 7th anniversary parking lot party. They’ll be launching their 7th anniversary ale, as well as pouring a selection of special beers. They’ll also have a live band, a barbecue, pizza, dog beer and a doggie paddling pool, a prize wheel, and free ice cream & cotton candy for kids!
Next Thursday, Smiths pub in Victoria is holding a Backcountry & Persephone tap takeover to get you warmed up for GCBF. No word yet on the tap list, but it’s sure to be great.
Next Friday & Saturday brings late-summer’s biggest event, as the 27th Annual GCBF comes to Victoria’s Royal Athletic Park. This year’s festival features over 250 beers from more than 60 BC breweries and 24 breweries from Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, and Yukon.
Then, if you aren’t tired from all that day drinking, head back over to Smiths for their Untapped GCBF after-party, where they will be pouring a selection of awesome beers from Dieu du Ciel (Quebec), Bench (Ontario), Dandy (Alberta) and Winterlong (Yukon).
