Persephone Brewing’s Tough Kegger – Canada’s first adventure race with beer – is back in 2019! In this sixth annual fundraiser for the Sunshine Coast Association for Community Living, teams of 4 must complete a back country foot race through west coast trails carrying a full 20L keg! Starting and ending at Persephone Brewing Co., and with amazing prizes and an After Party featuring a pop-up beer fest, live music, DJ performances, food vendors and games this is an event you don’t want to miss!
The Race:
Whether you’re in it to compete or just to push yourself while having fun with friends you’ll find what you’re looking for at Tough Kegger. Partner up and register your team of four below. Don’t have the people to field a full team? No worries – we’ll help you form a team and make new friends in the process. Just register as an individual and we’ll hook you up! Sweet swag for all racers, with prizes for first place team overall (including your team name engraved on the coveted Tough Kegger trophy for all time), runner up, first placing brewery team, first placing local business team, best dressed team, and the Lantern Rouge (last placing team…but Lantern Rouge sounds way cooler). Once you’ve signed up, challenge others and let us know – we’ll help you goad them (nicely) on social media! The After Party:
Kicking off at 4pm at Persephone Brewing, the Tough Kegger After Party is a great way for racers to relax and enjoy some fun after crushing our race course! Not racing? No problem! Anyone can enjoy the festivities in this family friendly hoe down on the farm. Live Music from the toughest funksters in BC…. Raincity ! Pop-up craft beer festival with beers from the toughest (and definitely the most fun) breweries in BC, live music, DJ performances, food vendors and games, there’s a whole lotta somethings for everyone at the Tough Kegger After Party. Advance admission is $10 per person starting at noon (children and youth up to 18 years of age get in free and must be accompanied by an adult). Proceeds go to benefit the Sunshine Coast Association for Community Living.

Car Free Day:
Saturday August 17th is Car Free Day at Persephone. Racers, event volunteers and staff will still be able to park on site but customers and event attendees will need to make their way to Persephone by other means. Why? Firstly because cars are unsustainable and we want to give our atmosphere a break and reduce our ecological footprint (really we should be doing this more often)! Secondly because with lots of people at Persephone that day limiting vehicle access means a safe, fun, traffic free site for everyone to enjoy! So how do you get here? No worries, we’ll be running a shuttle service to and from Persephone Brewing from 10am until 10pm with pickup locations at the BC Ferries’ Langdale Terminal, Shirley Macey Park, and both malls in upper Gibsons. You can park in town and jump on the shuttle, or power yourself here on foot or by bicycle.
