“Kveik: the versatile yeast that brewers love (and nobody knows how to pronounce correctly)”

Used for centuries by brewers in Norway, Kveik yeast was “discovered” by North American craft brewers in 2017 and has since become super-popular among brewers and consumers alike. It is an incredibly versatile yeast strain, which generates interesting and unusual flavours, and can work much more quickly at higher temperatures than typical ale yeast. Brewers have even begun using Kveik in lager styles with interesting results.

Advanced Cicerone Stephane Turcotte, co-owner/brewmaster of Île Sauvage Brewing Co. hosts this tasting seminar for VBS members only. He will present five different beers brewed with Kveik yeast, describing how the yeast was used and the resulting flavour profile of each beer. Attendees will learn all there is to know about this trendiest of beer yeasts — including how to pronounce its name!

Tickets are $15 and include a flight of 5x4oz tasters. Additional beverages and snacks will be available for purchase from Ilê Sauvage.
