The Killing Floor Blues Band takes its name from a Howlin Wolf song and it’s this sound that the band pays homage to, Chicago electric blues of the 50’s and 60’s.
Consisting of Ben Abel on guitar and vocals the band started in December of 2011 and has played many shows both in and out of Vancouver. Experienced musician John Vavrik joined the band as their full time bass player in August of 2016. Ted Laturnus has joined the band as full time drummer as of December 2017.
The band plays several blues classics as well as original music thrown in for good measure. Songs like Spoonful and Killing Floor currently populate their set, as does originals like Funk n Low Down.
This is a great band that pays tribute to some of the finest music of the 20th century. Available for small and large gigs as well as corporate events and parties, it promises high energy music that harkens back to a time when rock and roll was just getting started and the blues was still king.
