Dear Members,

Welcome to the heat of the summer season (quite literally!).

What better way to tip our hats to the sun-gods than a ‘Beer in the Park”’ picnic protest in favour of more liberal consumption of alcohol in public places legislation.

The inaugural Beer on the Beach event was held by CAMRA Vancouver two years ago on English Bay and garnered some great media coverage and without any tickets, complaints, instances of any negative nature. In addition, our version last year was also quite a success.

However, the work is not done. A pilot project was supposed to be in the works for Vancouver this year, but delays with licencing have left businesses waiting. We still need to show that it can be done, respectfully, responsibly and peacefully.

So please mark your calendars for Sunday, August 18th where members are encouraged to bring a beverage of choice (be it alcoholic or non-alcoholic) to the green space behind the Craigflower Schoolhouse alongside Admirals Road at 3pm.

We will hold a respectful, peaceful, family friendly ‘picnic protest’ to shed light on the capability that municipalities hold to allow for the temporary allowance for the law-abiding consumption of alcohol in a public space.

Your executive welcomes any questions or concerns and hope to see you at the event.

Campaign for Real Ale Society of BC-Victoria Region
