Take your passion for craft beer to the next level — get your Prud’homme Beer Enthusiast Level 1 beer certification at KPU this summer.

This introductory course in beer education and tasting is designed for people interested in furthering their knowledge and interest in craft beer. You’ll learn about brewing ingredients and processes, tasting concepts, pouring and serving concepts, and food and beer pairings. After successfully completing this short course, you will receive a Prud’homme certificate.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is home to BC’s only Brewing & Brewery Operations Diploma program and, this summer, we’ll be offering a Brewing Chemistry Basics continuing studies short course that’s open to the public.

Whether you’re prepping for first-year brewing science, are an avid homebrewer or simply like geeking out over beer, this Brewing Chemistry Basics course will help you understand the chemical foundation of beer and the science behind it.

Join KPU Brewing diploma instructor Martina Solano Bielen (M.Sc. Microbiology) for four evenings at KPU’s new Surrey Civic Plaza, conveniently located just steps from the Surrey Central Skytrain station.

The program will consist of four evening classes where participants will learn applicable brewing chemistry topics, such as concentrations, dilutions, acids and bases, pH scale and acid-base reactions, along with solving different problem sets.

In each class, the topics will be taught and the students will work together in a collaborative environment to solve different problems related to the topics reviewed in class.

102.7 THE PEAK and The Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society will host the 3rd annual Battle Of The Brews beer fest on Saturday, August 24th at Surrey City Hall Plaza right off the Surrey Central Skytrain station. Gates open at 12:30pm, event runs from 1pm-5pm. The event is happening rain or shine.

This fun charity event will offer attendees a great afternoon of craft beer tasting, delicious food sampling and 102.7 THE PEAK will be live on site. Attendees will get the ability to vote for their favourite beers. All net proceeds from the event will fund Athletics 4 Kids and Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society youth initiatives. Donations will also be accepted on site. We can accept cash, debit, visa and mastercard.

Tickets include everything! Entrance, souvenir tasting mug, all your beer samples, all your food samples and water. That means you don’t have to pay extra for beer tickets, everything is included! Please remember your reusable water bottle!

Ticket Details:
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 10th at 10am.
Early bird tickets are $45 until May 31st.
Group tickets of 10 or more are just $40.
Regular price tickets will be $50 starting June 1st.

Must be 19 or older to attend. Ticket holders will be required to present photo ID.
