ewery Operations… a place dear to John Mitchell’s heart.
A special donation to the John Mitchell scholarship will be made.
THE AWARD: \nThe Award was created to honour the
legacy of the late John Mitchell\, Canada’s original craft brewer and a pi
oneering figure in the craft beer movement who played a pivotal role in sh
aping the industry. In 1982\, John Mitchell started an economic and cultur
al revolution when he pioneered Canada’s first craft brewery in Horseshoe
Bay BC. John Mitchell’s dedication to innovation\, quality\, and community
-building serves as an inspiration to brewers and beer enthusiasts worldwi
de.

ny Dewald\, whose > 30 year career includes high-profile breweries in Toro
nto\, Montreal and most notably in Vancouver—where he helped bring craft b
eer culture to the BC Lower Mainland—becomes the first ever winner of the
John Mitchell Lifetime Achievement Award for Brewing Excellence. Tony has
demonstrated an exceptional commitment to advancing the art and science of
brewing. With a career spanning over three decades\, Dewald has consisten
tly pushed the boundaries of brewing\, creating unique and memorable beer
experiences. His passion for quality\, sustainability\, and community enga
gement has left an indelible mark on the brewing industry. His innovative
brewing methods and commitment to environmental sustainability have helped
set new industry standards.
